2Â Nights in, Â 2 more to go!
The event this year opened to a resounding success, with over 1800 people enjoying a fantastic evening of high class music performed by the wonderful “Sheffield University Big Band”, who opened and were accompanied by an amazing  fly past of a Spitfire, who did a low flying sequence of aerobatic maneuvers. Some have said “music and movement in perfect harmony”?
They were then followed by the astounding “Keith Peters Big Band” who yet again produced a fantastic  evening of quality music. Keith and his band are regulars at the event and are firm favourites of the event goers.
Speaking to patrons on the way home everyone was talking about how the “music was exceptional”. Need we say more?
Thursday night was opened by old favorites “The Dizzy Club”, with 3000 people enjoying every minute of their set. Helped this year by the “Big Screen” meaning that people at the back of the areana could also see what was happening on stage. Some people told me that they felt they had a better view with the screen than trying to see the stage?
Thursday night was closed by the amazing Paul Carrack, who was greeted by the dance area being full to the limit with hundreds of excited adoring fans, all of which had a brilliant time, while Paul and his fantastic band took us all on a amazing musical journey through his career to date.  He played all his hits and many more besides. With a backing group of nearly 3000 adoring fans,   Paul was the consummate performer, that we all love and know.
!! Friday and Saturday ticket update !!
Looking at ticket sales so far,  the Friday night looks like it will be another very close run thing with, very, very few tickets left! Anyone thinking of chancing it should expect to be disappointed! If you have the chance to get to the City Hall Box office, or Arena Box Office, before 3PM today and get your tickets. Alternatively if you are not able to get there,  then go see Ed in the Botanical Garden Shop, who will sell tickets up to 5 PM. If you are very, very lucky then their may be some left on the gate, but I would not chance it!
Friday will open with local band “Low Due” a very talented local group who will be wowing the early door patrons. They will be followed by last years headline act, the  fantastic “Mr Omar Puente”,  who will be the main support of the evening and will lead into what will develop into a musical experience of a life time with the headline of the night being the extremely talented “Mr Courtney Pine.”Â
Friday night will be a sell out!
As for Saturday night, the same rules apply. The fantastically talented and well loved Dodworth Colliery Band will open the evenings performance. They are a headline act in their own right, and the amount of people who have told me that they are coming to see them is huge. However this year they will be handing over the musical baton to the astounding Sheffield Philharmonic Orchestra, who will be performing a wide range of classics, and who will end the evening with a “Last Night Of The Proms” style section where we are expecting audience participation?
Again tickets are selling very well for the Saturday night so if you are wanting to come along, then you need to act NOW!!.
